Keen on even dominating the tablet market, Samsung has announced the release of Galaxy Note 10.1 which is expected to be hitting store shelves in coming months. Reports on the upcoming tablet apprise it to be a Samsung Galaxy S3 in 10.1 version.
Samsung has outfitted the tablet with some impressive specifications that will satisfy consumers’ insatiable appetite for instant, on-the-go information
Pre-release leak of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is already making rounds on the blogosphere. The new device is expected to hit US shores in near future.
Apparently, the full system firmware for the device, running on Android 4.0.4, was leaked, according to Sammobile. Meanwhile, a blog in South Korea showed the unboxing and demonstrated a video about Galaxy device’s handwritten notes.
In addition to that, a video of the device being tested by a member of XDA-developers ‘floiancu’ surfaced last month. He was lucky enough to sample the features. The videos of the same are put on YouTube and are made private for viewing.
The newly spotted Galaxy Note 10.1 appears bit modified compared to the one showcased during Mobile World Congress (MWC) back in February.
The tablet is expected to feature 10.1-inch 1280 x 800 pixels display, dual-core 1.4GHz processor, microSD card slot, 16GB/32GB/64GB built in storage variants, 5-megapixel with LED flash support and may weigh close to 580 g.
However, the biggest concern remains whether the specs will remain constant at the time of release. Samsung has continuously altered the new tablet with additional features and specs since MWC showdown. The device was returned to company’s R&D center for a specs overhaul.
Although dual-core is expected, based on the unboxing done by a Korean blogger who ran down on the specs, the device was found to have a quad-core processor. The pics and demonstration on his blog showed the device to feature Exynos 4412 chipset which is same as Samsung Galaxy S3. There is 1280×800 PLS 150 ppi display, 1.4 GHz quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM, 5-megapixel camera, 1.9-megapixel secondary camera and a 7000 mAh battery. Going by these specs, the earlier report of Samsung Galaxy Note devices being inspired by Samsung Galaxy S3 may hold true.
The report about dual-core version can’t be ruled out as well. If LTE variant is launched, then it most probably will feature a dual-core version.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1-inch is expected to be unveiled in New York on August 15. The new tablet will not be getting Jelly Bean on purchase but one can expect the OS to be added in near future. Many devices have already begun porting the latest OS via ROM modifications or direct updates for certain devices.
Meanwhile, the firmware leak showed Model Number as GT-N8000, Build date: July 20, Code: N8000XWALG7, Phone: N8000XXLGA and CSC: N8000OJVALG4. And another important feature that is worth noting is the inclusion of a S-Pen along with slot for the stylus.
