3jam Offers Similar Service Like Google Voice?

Posted on 01 August 2009

With 3jam take control of your phone. Now 3jam announced new voice forwarding and transcription service that may be similar to Google Voice.

3jam gives you option of choosing one or more phone numbers.

Features of 3jam:

Phone numbers for you:

  • Call routing – save with simultaneous ring to phones, Skype and more
  • Visual voicemail – read the transcription
  • SMS to Email – receive and respond to SMS by email
  • Best calling/texting rates – get local phone numbers for friends overseas
  • Landline replacement – move your phone number to 3jam and save
  • Developer API – extend your app or build something we’re missing

Phone numbers for groups

  • Local group identity – make your group easy to reach and manage
  • Call forwarding – micro-PBX forwards calls to the group managers
  • Voicemail sharing – as simple as forwarding an email
  • Group texting – a permanent phone number saved in everyone’s phone

A few ways 3jam can benefit you today

  • Take phone calls on Skype/IM – why pay for cell minutes when you’re at a PC?
  • Cheaper calls/texts – no complicated apps; get US numbers for family abroad
  • Patient/client reminders – text your appointment reminders instead of calling
  • Law offices – reach clients faster and keep a record of all texts
  • Sports – cancelling practice? One text to a group phone number reschedules
  • Carpool late? – text the group phone number to let everyone know

Pricing: 3jam beta costs $4.99 with a 12-month subscription, but price is indirectly proportional to commitment. A three-month bundle costs $5.99, and you’ll pay $8.99 for one month. The charge won’t include texting rates, which 3jam will tack on for $5 to $20 per month.
