BSNL Indian Broadband Service Provider Offers 24Mbps Speed, Fastest In India

To find good internet speed in India is a matter of concern. But BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has become the fastest Internet speed provider in India today by offering new plan that will touch speed up to 24Mbps.

The 24Mbps speed provided by BSNL is the fastest compared to Bharti Airtel which provides only 16Mbps, that is 8Mbps more than Bharti Airtel.

BSNL will offer high speed broadband service through the high speed digital subscriber loop (VDSL) technology.

But the internet speed is nothing compared to speed offered developed countries like Japan and Korea offering 45Mbps and 60Mbps respectively.

Prior to this speed launch by BSNL, they used to offer maximum speed up to 8 Mbps only, that is a large shift. Infact VDSL will help speeds to go up to 52Mbps.

This news may sound good to those subscribers who are stationed 500 meter from BSNL’s broadband exchange nodes. Only those who come close to 500 meters can avail this offer, but those further away cannot. But in future, the offer will be expanded.

BSNL connection of 24 Mbps and 16 Mbps connections comes with an exorbitantly high price tag of Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 4,999 respectively.

Although BSNL had previously stated of offering 500 Mbps speeds, nothing much has been done about it. But this boast of 24Mbps may be the stepping stone for huge success in India. Infact India is pegged to hit a meagre number of 20 million broadband connection in the next 5 years which means that such high speeds with such expensive tags rarely have a ready market out there just yet.

LG India Releases New ‘Ice Cream’ Clamshell Phone

Indian market will witness new LG ‘Ice Cream’ phone KF350, as LG launches it in India. The phone is basically targetted towards Indian women, as Women’s day is scheduled to be celebrated on March 8th 2010.

The clamshell phone comes in pastel colors like vanilla and pink. The phone is stylish and simple in design.

The KF350 phone will features 3 megapixel camera for good cam shots, 2.2-inch QVGA internal display resolution, it has 260,000-color TFT screen. It also features built-in MP3 player, supports MP3/AAC/AAC / eAAC / WMA format music files and video file formats MPEG4/H.263 play.

Samsung Introduces New Jet 2 Smartphone In India

Samsung will be launching their latest touch-screen handset known as Samsung Jet 2 in India soon.

Samsung’s Jet 2 phone is bit advanced compared to their earlier version Samsung Jet S8000 when it comes to slight software modifications. There are quite a few additions, like it comes with multi media features like 5 MP camera, SRS and DNSe sound effect, XviD and DivX video support. Jet 2 also combines intelligent functional and user-friendly interface.

When it comes to display, Samsung Jet 2 has 16M WVGA AMOLED display (3.1″) offers the most vivid and colorful touch experience and its 800MHz application processor delivers breathtaking speed and stunning performance.

Also the new handset has Google Push Email feature which allows media content sharing technology among DLNA certified devices. There is an English dictionary and an advanced Media Browser which lets users to close several widgets at once through motion control.

Screenless marvel

On first glance, one may be excused for thinking the Cowon iAudio E2 audio player is a bottle opener. The Circle + Square design of Cowon E2 Audio player is minimalistic but striking, Screenless audio players come with the most basic features, but the E2 goes a little further than that.

It comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack. This jack is also used for data transfer via a 3.5 mm to USB cable which is also bundled. As many as eight BBE audio modes are voiced out by a female voice to keep you engaged. Pressing this button longer enbales the shuffle on/off mode. Sound quality is crisp but it does end to screech at maximum volumes in certian modes. It supports MP3, FLAC, OGG, WMA and WAV audio formats. A big plus is the quick charging time of under two hours. It lasts for a good 8 to 10 hours on a single charge. A big negative is the absence of the ability to skip folders. So if your have many songs then be prepared for exercising your fingers. FM radio is not available.

At Rs 3,600, it is priced similarly to the 4 GB iPod Shuffle that has a similar feature set.

Gigabyte MIB T3140 Review

Small wonder

The Gigabyte Monitor Integrated Box T3140 is a small form factor system with a black bodied chassis. It has a faciliy to attach a monitor on the chassis. This helps in saving space for an external monitor stand. The chassis is made of strong metal and the build is quite sturdy. The glossy front panel has the power button alongwith the two USB ports and the speaker and microphone jacks.

On opening the chassis with the help of thumb screws on the rear end, we notice that it is neatly compartmentalized for optimum usage of space. There is a 160W Gigabyte power supply for the entire cabinet on the left hand side and space for a Mini-ITX Motherboard on the right. Heatsink has to be chosen keeping the limited height of the chassis in mind. A 6 cm fan is located on the right hand side with space for a slim ODD and a 3.5-inch HDD.

The monitor stand can be set up on top of the chassis which has two grooves for the stand. It is screwed from behind to provide additional stability to the stand. There is a hinge lock system to raise the stand. It is done by applying pressure on the stand and then moving the lock according to the direction indicated on it. Once the stand is upright, the VESA standard slot can be inserted into the upper most projection of the stand to which and LCD monitor can be attached with the help of four screws.

This is an ideal product for small offices where space is at a premium. At Rs. 3,999 plus taxes, it is a decent buy.

Fire Breaks Out In Carlton Tower Bangalore, Few died

Major fire broke out in Carlton Towers near old Airport road. I was right there watching what was happening. For one moment I was really scared, as I saw one guy trying to evade the smoke got out of the window, slipped and fell from the 5th floor. He tried to hold the window and then there was small space to keep his legs, but his legs were not reaching that slab, he let loose of the grip and jumped on it, but then he had no where else to hold and he just lost his balance. I really couldn’t believe my eyes. I was sitting in the car, while I saw one person jumping from the 5th floor. It was tragic.

Some people near the glass pane were crying for help and thick black smoke was covering them. The entire building was fuming with black smoke. Another guy tried to come out of the window, but as he saw his colleague slip, he just went in.

Although many news channels are saying the fire is under control, only God knows what are the casualties and trauma experienced by those people trapped inside.

Some must have fainted due to smoke. Karnataka Home Minister VS Acharya told a news channel that he had reports that five people may have died due to jumping from the fifth floor in panic.

The Ambulance were too late to arrive, although Manipal hospital was just close-by that area, but again traffic due to vehicles also hindered the movement of Ambulance. I was stuck in the traffic for a long time.

Two days back I went to look for office space there in that building. I have seen the building; it houses lot of IT and other offices. The building has commercial complex and a busy office area in it.

But DG, Fire dept reported that “All the people have been saved”.

The IG of the fire dept, PS Sandhu said fire dept personnel had gone checking for victims and people trapped room to room.

I think more than 50 or 70 must have been trapped inside the building.

Pray that rescue efforts may save many people in there.
