Genius G-Shot V1200 Camera Review

Posted on 10 January 2010

12 MP mega-madness!

The newly released Genius G-shot V1200 is a 12 MP camera with a 3x optical zoom. The camera has support for upto 32 GB of external memory.

The menu and functions are placed at the bottom right corner of the camera. The function button provides controls for choosing different image sizes, smile capture funtion, portrait mode and the other useful stuff.

We took some indoor shots at the 4000 x 3000 resolution with and without zoom. The image quality of indoor shots without zoom is decent although not very crisp or vibrant. In zoomed shots, distant objects lose detail.

The navigation keys are well placed. The controls are easy to use and the screen is bright. The flash is a little too strong but images do not get washed out.

Data transfer rates to the PC are good. Video test shots taken at 640 x 480 were good but a little noisy. It supports the widescreen resolution 720 x 400 (16:9). Video recording requires good lighting conditions though, especially with distant objects.

The camera has a decent number of features for anyone interested in getting into photography but definitely not for a professional or a serious enthusiast. At a price Rs. 10,950, it’s pretty expensive
