According to recent study as ExtremeTech discovers Google’s Chrome has topped the list as the speed champion.
As ExtremeTech put every browsers including Firefox 3, Apple’s Safari, Opera and IE to test, Chrome topped them all.
Usually ExtremeTech put the browser through a battery of tests, including how the browsers pefromed with Flash, compatibilty, JavaScript etc. Finally the what are the analysis..?
- Based on our arbitrary score assignments, Google Chrome is the speed king…Google uses its own knowledge of search and browsing habits to optimize Chrome, but Chrome is still in early development. It’s also clear from our testing that Microsoft really needs to get IE 8 out the door–IE 7 not only has compatibility issues, but is substantially slower in many ways. Firefox 3.1 should also improve Firefox’s scores.
- What does it all really mean? For one thing, take a close look at your browser usage. Are you still using the default browser that came with your system? You may want to re-examine that. The end result may be a much more pleasant and productive Web experience.
But Firefox is still considered to be fastest, Google has a stiff challenger in Firefox.

Google Chrome with new version 0.4.154.25 on Monday with a new bookmark manager.
Apart from this new manager other features include consolidated settings for privacy options, a rejiggered pop-up blocker and security features.
According Google Program Manager Mark Larson, the built-in version of Gears, a collection of Google browser extensions for features such as offline browsing and geolocation, has been updated from 0.4.24.0 to version 0.5.4.0, and the V8 JavaScript engine has been updated from from 0.3.5.0 to 0.3.9.2
