Google Integrates PDF File Viewer in Search Results

Posted on 08 July 2009

Google has integrated Google’s PDF viewer with Google’s search results, replacing the “view as HTML” option. Now you can “View,” as the native viewer app used in Google Docs is available for quick document scans.

Google converts PDF files into PNG images, but the files are still searchable and you can copy some of their content.

The pages of a PDF can be viewed in page-by-page or grid alignments, and there’s still a “Plain HTML” click option for those who like the stripped-down versions.

As of now not all PDF files have this option, but slowly many more PDF files may contain this option in the future.
