iTablet to rival Apple iPad

Posted on 08 February 2010

iPad has gained much needed attention in the market. But a UK company has rivaled Apple Inc iPad to bring the new “iTablet.”

X2 Computing is planning to release iTablet in April. The name given to the tablet was one of the rumored named of iPad. iPad had several name to readied for it, like iTouch, iSlate etc.

Anyways let’s forget the name and get to the main features of this product. The X2 latest product iTablet features Window 7 and Linux (Windows XP Tablet Edition optional). It comes in two sizes, 10.2 inches and 12.1 inches with a 1,024-by-768 resolution TFT touchscreen (multitouch optional). It has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom processor, a 250GB hard drive, built-in stereo speakers, three USB ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI output, a 1.3-megapixel webcam and 3G connectivity.

Unlike iPad which does not support flash, iTablet supports flash and will include a built-in 1.3-megapixel webcam.

But it will be interesting to see if the iTablet can make it to US because of trademark issues. X2 Computing bold decision to consider Apple’s “I” branding may become a setback. Taiwanese company AMteK is current owner of the iTablet trademark in America.

With many opposite features of iPad like it containing support for Windows 7 and Linux, Adobe support and a range of hardware configurations, should make this tablet any eye catcher.

Nice and Informative article. The iSlate will revolutionize mobile gaming. With it being compatible with the popular applications that run on the iPhone the iSlate will be a more functional version of the iPhone due to it’s increased size and computing power.
