New LG Gw990 spots big features compared to Nexus One

Smartphone industry is filled new handsets, which have bigger and better features. LG’s new GW990 smartphone may cause potential treat to Nexus One and other lately released smartphones.

Advances in connectivity, intuitive user interfaces, immersive content and computer chip performance have allowed computing to move into new areas.

Laptops are getting smaller, but phone companies are making their smartphones bigger and better. LG’s new phone sports a screen of 4.8-inch, that’s the biggest display screen among the existing smartphones in the market.

The GW990 was showcased during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. During the show, LG showed the phone running with split-screen with a video on one side of the screen and an email inox on the other. Just image a phone which can run 3 apps without straining you eyes.

This new phone has outweighed HTC HD2 which has a display of 4.3 inches. And the LG’s smartphone features new Intel’s new Morrestown processor and it is alos the first phone to features inel’s Linux based mobile OS, Moblin 2.1. Basically the OS would make multi-tasking easier. A Moorestown processor is usually used in netbooks and mini laptops and it could pose a significant amount of threat to Nexus Ones Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Because the Morrestown processor is expected to go pass the processing speed of Nexus One’s Qualcomm.

“It’s smaller, faster and better than anything we’ve done before”, said Intel’s president and CEO Paul Otellini about the processor.

When it comes to battery power, LG’s smartphone gives better and powerful battery of 1850mAh which gives 4 hours of talk time and 300 hours of stand by time.

And what more? LG’s GW990 has 3.5G connectivity and there are supposed rumors of it supporting LTE 4G technology in future, that means consumers can have access to super-fast broadband.

The other specifications of the gigantic smartphone are 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash, WiFi, A-GPS, digital compass, HSDPA (7.2Mbps), HSUPA (5.6Mbps), onscreen keyboard, 16GB of internal storage, 512MB RAM and microSD card slot.

“Computing is no longer confined to your computer – it’s everywhere. Advances in connectivity, intuitive user interfaces, immersive content and computer chip performance have allowed computing to move into new areas. Computing moving into all manner of devices and experiences all around us improves our personal productivity and enjoyment,” said Otellini.

According to sources, the phone is supposed to come into the market late this year. With just bits and pieces of specs released about the new phone. It has already beaten Nexus One and other smartphone in the market. When full specs are released who knows what more surprises are on the way.
