Plot:
“Just what are the executives thinking? Why are they obsessing over the Blood Bible rather than focusing on eliminating the vampire race?
Have the cries of our dying comrades and soliders in this pointless war not reached their ears?”
“What are the Masters doing? What have they accomplished since they have opened up the entrance to the Sacred Ground?
What are we to looking now as we move on from here?”
“What are the Elders doing? Lady Charisas has led oru race thus far, but are we to depend on her even under these circumstances: is it not about time we stood up on our own two feet?”
July 2000. Several agents send a report on vampire activities. According to this report, vampires from around the globe have begun to gather in the “Helea” region to the north of Edonia, the capital city of the Republic of Eslania. Even the twelve clan Masters have begun gathering in this region, an unprecedented move in the history of vampires. Conflicts between clans escalate, and the Vatican senses a new danger looming.
Civilian casualty reaches a serious level as the civil war of the vampires spreads throughout Eslania. The Eslanian government hastily deploys armed forces, but they are no match for the power of vampires, vastly outnumbered. Many Eslanian soldiers fall and become blood slaves under the control of the vampires. In order to minimize the number of casualties, the Eslanian forces focus on evacuating the citizens, and, under strict confidentiality, hands the operation over to E.V.E., a counter-vampire taskforce.
The biggest accomplishment of E.V.E. is in the capture of a vampire POW during the first Counter-Vampire War. They interrogate the vampire and soon find out about the purpose of the clan’ gathering and the reason behind the vampire civil war. E.V.E. falls under a great shock as the vampire specifically mentions the mysterious vampric bible called the “Blood Bible”. The executives summoned at the Vatican orders E.V.E. to seek out and destroy this Blood Bible while maintaining the war.
Features of Darkeden:
1.Unique Subject And Genre:
Unlike other MMORPG’s, this game takes place in a near-future environment with vampires as its unique subject. A modern horror fantasy environment has been constructed with a mix of classic Asian fantasy, medieval fantasy and sci-fi.
2.Racial Conflicts Based On Powerful Plot:
You can freely choose one of the three contesting races- vampires, the Slayers and the Ousters.
Minor territrial conflicts naturally cause small battles between the races. In the Holyland of Adam, large-scale warfare between the races and siege between guilds take place, with integral elements of strategy.
3.Distinguished Racial Features:
Two systems coexist in Darkeden by race. Vampires use the level system and the Slayers the skill system. Each race shows its distinct features in its growth system, items, skills and classes. There are various vehicles or magic to take you across the vast map such as motorcycle, helicopter, bat, warp tunnel. Each race has its own strengths.
4. Time Influence:
The night and day cycle not only affects the vision of the characters or the change in teh environments, but has different effects on different races. While vampires are more powerful at night, the Slayers and the Ousters become relatively more powerful during the day.
5. Rank System
A rank system has been separately implemented from the level system. For every rank you achieve, you can selectively learn rank skills.
6. Diverse Skills
Vampires can use about 40, and the Ousters about 70 different skills and magic. Slayers can use about 100 skills and magic. In addition to this, there are approximately 30 different passive skills according to the rank of the character.
Game Play:
Locating Your Slayer:
Once you have created your character and begun the game, you will see your character standing at the entrance to the virtual training ground. You can use the regular item in your inventory as your starting weapon.
1. Check the mini map to the upper right corner of the screen.
Green signifies a safe area where monsters cannot freely invade. In this area, players can get help from NPC’s by talking to them or trade between themselves.
2. Mouse over a green dot displays the NPC’s name and the role.
On the mini map, your location is shown as a blue dot and the location of the NPC’s as green dots.
Finding Slayer NPC’s
Kaiser: As the top commander of the virtual training ground, lieutenant-colonel Kaiser quickly briefs the Slayers deployed in the region, and provides basic training for Slayers who wield swords and blades.
Jacques: Jacques is a veteran soldier who provides basic training for Slayers who wield guns and rifles.
Tanya: Tanya provides information in this virtual training ground regarding different weapon classes. She also provides basic training in priest-class heals and enchanting.
Dennis: Dennis is responsible for providing basic treatment and medical supplies for wounded Slayers. You must get treatment from him to get rid of 12 hours penalty. (Decreased protection and evasion for 12 hours)
Yamamoto: Yamamoto is responsible for treating wounded Slayers, and sometimes trades basic items. You must get treatment from him to get rid of 12 hours penalty. (Decreased protection and evasion for 12 hours)
You can locate on the mini map other NPC’s who will trade with the Slayers.
Locating Your Vampire:
You will see your character in front of the Limbo Castle at the start of the game.
1. Vampires are very powerful since they have double the attributes of Slayers.
Their outstanding basic abilities even allow them to battle without any equipment. Because of this, there are no particular NPC’s a vampire must visit.
2. Check the mini map to the upper right corner of the screen.
Mouse over a green dot displays the NPC’s name and the role. On the mini map, your location is shown as the red dot and the location of the NPC’s as green dots.
3. You are recommended to go to the Bathory Dungeon at the beginning of the game.
Check your mini map for the purple area and enter the Bathory Dungeon. You will meet monsters appropriate for your level on the first floor. As you attain higher level, you can move out farther on the map.
Locating your Ousters:
You will see your character inside the Ousters Village at the start of the game.
1. Ousters’ attributes are 50% higher than those of the Slayers, giving Ousters basic combat abilities.
Although the Ousters have great attributes, they must be given equipment in order to fight. At the start of the game, your Ousters will have equipped their traditional weapon, Chakram, and there is no particular NPC’s you must visit.
2. Check the mini map to the upper right corner of the screen.
Mousing over a green dot displays the NPC’s name and the role. On the mini map, your location is shown as the red dot and the location of the NPC’s as green dots.
3. You are recommended to go to the Hanial Dungeon at the beginning of the game.
Check your mini map for the purple area and enter the Hanial Dungeon. You will meet monsters appropriate for your level on the first floor. As you attain higher level, you can move out farther on the map.
