Call him the Master Blaster of modern Cricket. About whom are we talking about?
Alright, its about our latest lad in the Indian Cricket. ROBIN UTHAPPA.
ABOUT ROBIN UTHAPPA
Robin Uthappa’s full name is Robin Venu Uthappa. Robin was born in 11 November 1985, in Kodagu, Karnataka. His father is a professional international hockey referee, Venu Uthappa. His mother Roselyn, obviously is an house wife, hailing from Kozhikode, Kerala.
Speaking of Education, Robin completed his B.com graduation from Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College [in Bangalore]. He is looking forward to do his MBA at Jain College if time permits.
Robin Uthappa who was playing U19 cricket, caught the attention of selectors when he made 66 for India B against India A in the Challenger Trophy in 2005. Whats more surprising is, Robin the following year made a match winning 100 with just 93 balls. So guess, this was the turnover, in Robin’s life to enter the big league. Playing for the U-19 team, he won the Asia Cup and once was a wicketkeeper-batsman with a batting average of 40 and a strike rate of 90.
If Robin Uthappa, mentions his lucky year, I bet it would be 2007 when he was recalled to the ODI in January for the series against West Indies where he smashed a 70 from 41 balls. Well well, it doesn’t end here. Robin Uthappa was later called by the Indian selectors to play for the Indian team in the Cricket World Cup championship. He was selected in the 15-member squad for the Indian Cricket team. Not to mention, was the sad performance where he could only smash a 30 runs in all 3 group games he played. Shockingly, India even lost to Bangladesh making it impossible to qualify for the Super 8 stage.
Robin Uthappa’s fans surely have things to rejoice. His recent stats show him playing superb, specially against the Australians. He smashed the Australian and Worlds fastest bowler Brett Lee for all fours and sixes. What more can you expect from him, after playing a superb match-winning series.
Uthappa also scored a crucial 50 against Pakistan in the 20-20 World Cup in South Africa, when India were tottering at 36/4. India subsequently won the match in bowl out 3-0.
They say, he is professional at his trademark shot, which is a walking slam-bang shot. Anyways there are flaws, in some of the shots the player plays. In a recent interview, Robin Uthappa confessed it and even said, he will improve and play much better than anyone in the world. He continued, “I dont fear any bowler in the world. Ready to face any.”
He was quoted by the Times of India as saying, It is Gods grace that he is playing in the Cricket for the Indian side. Being a strong believer of Jesus Christ, Robin believes, he is born with a purpose. He says, God created him so that he can use his talent and support the Indian Cricket Team, with some bludgeoning shots.
Karnataka and Kerala government announced a cash award to Robin for his superb performance in the World twenty twenty (20-20) winning the world cup for India. It was a true moment of pride and surely Robin Uthappa contributed much to its success.
The dashing batsman not only speaks from his mouth, he even lets his bat speak for him. Before the Australia India series future cup began in Bangalore, he was quoted by news agencies as saying, “We will play fire with fire” He dared the Australians to play with the Indians.
And what more, during his recent press interview he claimed the aggression with which India played against the mighty Australians in the recent home series was not fake and the world should be ready to see more of it.
Lets see what happens during the Pakistan series commencing Nov 6.
