View Open Ports With MyPorts For Malicious Activities

Posted on 19 November 2009

Do you want to inspect system TCP and UDP ports and find open ones? Then MyPorts 2010 program is specially designed for this purpose.

MyPorts is a free utility that shows you what open ports are being actively used and which may be unnecessary.

In simple words, the function of open ports is to show you a specific program or running porcess that is connecting to the internet like browser, IM client or mail client. Suppose these programs are closed, even the ports are closed. MyPorts comes in handy, when you notice some ports are open and have no purpose at that moment, which can lead to security risk because MyPorts helps you check whether there are unnecessary open ports that could be used by malicious users.

The program displays local port and Address, remote port and address and which process owns the open port. This could be useful to find trojans, keyloggers or other malware “listening” for incoming calls.

An automatic 2-second scan can be activated, to ensure continuous monitoring of the sysem ports.

MyPorts is compatible with Windows7 RC1, Vista, XP, 2000, 98.
